Ghost Windows 8 Problem
You need to know how you can perform imaging operations on newly released Developer editions of Windows 8.
Ghost Windows 8 Solution
Although imaging Windows 8 computers with Ghost Solution Suite 2.5.1 is not supported by Symantec, here are some tips that might help those who want to test this process:- If you are using the Ghost Console/Client to perform imaging operations, you need to use PC-DOS. There is an incompatibility between the Windows PE Pre-OS that comes with Ghost and Windows 8.
- If you are using the Ghost Console/Client to perform imaging operations, you will not be able to invoke Sysprep via your Console task. If you need to Sysprep your Windows 8 computer, you must do so manually and capture your image with a boot disk.
- If you are using the Ghost Console/Client to perform imaging operations, make sure you have added the latest DOS network drivers to your virtual partition boot package via the Ghost Boot Wizard.
- You may need to create your image using the -IB switch so that you get a sector copy of the boot tract.
- You may need to restore your image with the -FDSP switch.
Please keep in mind that this information is provided "as is" and this operation is not supported by Symantec Technical Support. There is currently no release date for a version of Ghost that natively supports Windows 8 but this document will be updated with additional information as it becomes available.
